Care circuits within the framework of public care policies in Colombia, contributing to social justice

Abstract
Discussions around caregiving are recent in Colombia. However, recognizing caregiving as work has been a historic demand of women, as it is seen as an unpaid, unrecognized, and undervalued female activity. Helping a dependent person in their daily life has no market value, but ultimately contributes to the generation of wealth in nations, even though it is invisible in terms of the functioning of society itself. It is only through women's struggles that paid and unpaid care work has been questioned, as well as its importance for the reproduction of life.
This article aims to address some general issues regarding care circuits within the framework of public policies in Colombia, the construction of a national care system, its contribution to social justice, and the closing of the inequality gap.
