ANÁLISIS DE ENFERMEDADES LABORALES EN EL PERSONAL DOCENTE DE LA INSTITUCIÓN EDUCATIVA NORMAL SUPERIOR DE SAN JUAN DEL CESAR, GUAJIRA

Abstract

The purpose of this article was to analyze occupational diseases among teaching staff at the Higher Education Institution in the municipality of San Juan del Cesar, La Guajira, based on identifying their causes, describing the main effects, and determining their consequences. The research was conducted using a descriptive approach and a non-experimental design, employing a survey technique and a structured questionnaire applied to a sample of 21 teachers.

The results showed that the main causes of occupational diseases are related to physical and psychosocial factors inherent to teaching, notably prolonged postures during the working day, work overload, and the constant presence of stress and anxiety. The most frequent illnesses identified were mainly musculoskeletal disorders, physical and emotional exhaustion, psychosocial problems, and respiratory discomfort associated with the work environment. It was also determined that these illnesses have significant consequences on professional performance, reflected in constant fatigue, demotivation, and difficulties in adequately fulfilling work responsibilities.
